Dear PAS Community,

I am pleased to announce that Judy Shaw, EdD, MPH, RN, FAAP, Professor of Pediatrics, Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont, has been selected by the PAS Board of Directors as the incoming PAS Meeting Program Chair-elect. She will serve as PAS Meeting Program Chair-elect from July 2020 through June 2022, and as Program Chair from July 2022 through June 2024.

Dr. Shaw has shown a strong commitment to the PAS Meeting, participating in many roles since 1999, including Program Committee, Workshop Chair, member of several task forces (strategic planning, abstract review, and program design), chair of the Operating Committee, and member of the PAS Board of Directors.

Her career in pediatrics has focused on education and leadership, with an emphasis on quality improvement, maternal and child health, and mental health. She earned a Master of Public Health from Boston University School of Public Health and a Doctor of Education from the University of Vermont. Since 1996, she has been Principal Investigator on over 100 grants totaling more than $75 mil.

A member of the Academic Pediatric Association since 1993, she currently serves as the APA Secretary. She has mentored dozens of young physician-scientists through the APA Young Investigator Program and the APA Education Scholars Program. She is also a member of the American Pediatric Society and the American Academy of Pediatrics and serves as the Vice-Chair of the ACGME Council of Public Members.

With a deep understanding of pediatric resident and fellowship training programs, combined with a strong background in strategic planning, Dr. Shaw is uniquely positioned to help guide the future of the PAS Meeting as it builds on its commitment to being the premier North American scholarly child health meeting.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Shaw and thanking her for her service. I look forward to working with her in the coming years.

Sincerely,

Patrick Brophy, MD, MHCDS
